Hello,
I’ve got a sever with check_mk 1.20 on Ubuntu 14.04, and i need to upgrade it. Of course that fresh install is the only option to go from ubuntu 14.04 to 20.04 and i have to migrate all the data.
How can i go about it? I’ve noticed that check_mk 1.20 has no option for backups and i tried to copy some configuration files without any success.

Starting from 1.2 you should make a stop at every major release and fix intermediate issues in between.
You can make a backup with tar on the command line when the site is not running.
First go to 1.4, then to 1.5, then to 1.6 and after that to 2.0. Somewhere in between you will have to upgrade Ubuntu.
