How do I set check_mk to send the alarm/notification after three probes and not on the first one?
You have to set a rule to set the hard state (which is used for notifications) after the 3rd check attempt. You can find the rule as Maximum number of check attempts for service and Maximum number of check attempts for host.

Is it under Monitoring Configuration change the “Maximum number of check attempts for host”? Because I don’t find the option for service
