This is not Checkmk checking the Apache2 config, this is logrotate rotating logs and issuing a reload to Apache2, which triggers the configuration check.
Depending on how you did that, you might have lost support on your Checkmk installation.
We are still confident, that this whole situation is a one-off thing, that does not repeat.
This happened to us on a RHEL 8 omd server after automated patches installed, which included httpd and python3 packages. The next time logrotate reloaded apache after these patches, this happened. Iām interested in how to prevent this in the future. Restarting the sites fixed it, sure, but who wants to start the morning with OMD sites down?
