I am running checkmk 2.3.0cp45 currently. I am trying to create some nice very basic views but the biggest issue for me currently is that I cannot for some reason find a way to display the summary of all services in OK state in green. I have it setup but it shows up as grey/dark.
My goal is to have 3 boxes OK/WARN/CRIT on 3 folders and I want them to each have their associated colour assigned to them. I have tried multiple different datasources(all hosts, all services, hostgroups) I also looked into aggregated ones as well with little to no luck.
When doing host groups I select to show even if empty since we don’t use host groups. I then get a nice red crit but I for my life cannot find how I limit it to only X folders. It seems to be taking everything under Main folder even if I put it in a dashboard with the folders pre-selected.
If I try to add it through all hosts I get the services in the colours I want but it is not summarized and shows multiple rows for each host. I have not yet found a grouping that would make it into one summarized number.
Does anyone know how to get this done? The goal is to have it in a dashboard to present a couple of easy to read numbers for some services and maybe some host states. I just simply want them colourized by their state as well
I have checked in the forum as well as googled and found that they seemed to have removed some features for colour-customization a while back in some werks and I saw that you can add CSS themes but it feels like overkill for such a “simple” thing.
Edit: This doesn’t have to be service state summary that I am using it is just where this issue for me appeared. If anyone have a solution to use something else feel free to share that as well.
I tried doing that grouping however it didn’t seem to do anything unfortunately. I also do not have the option to not add a link, I simply made sure to have un-checked the link option to not include it.
Due to my work I am not allowed to share screenshots but I will give the direction to replicate it here:
In a dashboard go to: add → Service state summary → select X folders and the state you want to monitor. → Save and go to view. You should now have a dashlet displaying a number of services in that state. I simply want that colourized and it seems like that isn’t an option for that specific dashlet. I then tried to do it from customized views but I have yet to find one that works.
P.S I do not have Multiple WATO folders but Multiple Setup Folders which should be the same thing in this case.
My server is 2.1 raw. I took some existing view properties and changed the grouping and filter to illustrate my suggestion. I forgot to blur the do not add a link part.
I also assume Multiple Setup Folders is the newer name of Multiple WATO Folders.
Regarding screenshots, same here, but I just blur out all the sensitive info.
Anyway, trying to replicate, I see that (my) raw doesn’t offer Service state summary in dashboard.
I have made a paid dashboard dashlet workaround for raw in the past (Top X). I hoped that with a screenshot (currently can’t find an example elsewhere) I got an idea how it looked like, so it could be done with a workaround too.
Even though it wasn’t my desired solution and it is an inferior one. I ended up having to create host groups for the things I wanted to monitor and then do a merged host group view and put that into a dashboard. It gives me a tiny number on a column in the view which is red for critical even though my ideal solution would’ve been to have the service summary colorized. If anyone knows the answer on how to solve that then please share that as well.
