Hi. Shortly: How do I disable the active check “Check_MK HW/SW Inventory” for hosts that I only have an IMPI management board interface and no agent?

Is this IP address the management board of another host?

Then it should

a) be configured in the management board section of the original host. No need for a second host.

or

b) no configuration in the management board section at all but configure the IPMI special agent for this host.

You cannot have a host where you only query the management board. This will not work properly.

Either option above will remove the error from the HW/SW inventory check.

Thank you for your reply. I cannot provide the front-end host properly as it is a piece of hardware given out to a user via OpenStack Ironic.

Option (b) appears to be the most viable. I have found this:

Aaaand no tutorial so far. So here is what I did. I created a new tag ipmi_special_agent with values ipmi_special_agent_no and ipmi_special_agent_yes. I then set that tag to true in the folder that contains these ironic bare metal hosts. Then I created the following rules:

For switching the hosts to the special IPMI agent

For configuring sensors.

I only got sensible results after having BOTH. Also, I had to install freeipmi package in the Docker container and probably have to do this after each redeployment unless the wonderful people at tribe29 were to add this to their docker image.
