can anybody help me to figure out, how to replicate custom topic icons from master to slave instance?
Master:
Slave: use the default icon
Not sure where they are stored in 2.1 but we had a similar request with a nagios cfg file in etc.
You may replace the original location with a link to the local structure. You need to do this once for every site.
Everything from local structure is sent to remote site with activate changes.
