I am using Check_MK Raw 2.4.0 p5 and need to monitor a mounted folder on a Linux server to detect the presence of files.
I followed the steps in the documentation, but I’m not sure if I missed something, because it didn’t work when I tried to monitor more than one path.
I have the configuration set up as follows:
This configuration is located on the Linux server where I want to monitor two folders.
I would recommend using the successor of fileinfo, mk_filestats, as it is easier to configure and significantly more performant, especially when dealing with a large number of directories and files.
There, you can group and prefilter the files directly in the Check without the hassle of multiple rules.
I configured it using the file stats method as you suggested and deleted the file info file.
I am providing evidence of the rules and the file.
I used different rules than those for fileinfo in Checkmk, but it didn’t work; I am getting the error: “Missing monitoring data for plugins, filestatsWARN”.
Here I am, trying to monitor two different folders.
Did you deploy the mk_filestats.py plugin onto the server?
Once the plugin is on the server, you can run it directly from the console to check what it picks up. For more details, you can use -v or -vv, and for testing purposes you can use --config-file to test with a different config file.
