Oracle Instance Availability when ora_pmon process is not running (2.0.0p9)

Hi all,

we have upgraded our test environment from version 1.6.0p21 to version 2.0.0p9 (Server and Agent Plugin) and noticed an issue with the Oracle Instance Service when the database process (ora_pmon) is not running.

In version 1.6.0p21 the Service goes Critical when the database process (ora_pmon) is not running with the Summary “Database not running or login failed”.

In version 2.0.0p9 the service goes Critical (with a useful Error Message) as long as the ora_pmon process is running. When the oracle process is not running, we are getting only an Unknown state (Item not found in monitoring data).

Has anyone an idea how we can get the same behavior as in 1.6.0p21? Is this a bug in the oracle_instance check script?

Best Regards
Thomas

Hi Thomas,
I can confirm the problem and sent an information to Tribe29.
They added oracle_instance.uptime last year and that breaks the check for oracle_instance.
