The solution mentioned (imho this is more a hack) means you will need to alter a CheckMK -supplied file.
Which will mean that on upgrade the alteration/change is lost.
Also v2.1.0 is out of support, so you might want to consider upgrading to a more recent version.
In the above mentioned thread the following is stated:
In Checkmk2.2 a newer Python version will be used which does not support TLS1.1 and lower.
So to solve your issue the preferred way would be to upgrade to at least v2.2.0.
