Setting up rules based on port descriptions

Hi,

I basically want to setup a simple Network interfaces and switch ports rule based on the switch port descriptions (apply to any ports with description “Trunk”), I have searched all the forum and googled it but cannot find a basic guide on how to do this for a newbie. could someone possibly set out the rule conditions I need to do this, or give me an example? I have set the service status detail to description.

Hi Thanks for this. I did read that post - but it requires us to change the port names on the switches. The port description field already has all the details I need, I just am unsure on the correct rule conditions to say for example,

If Port Description contains “Trunk” then montior state changes

I have just followed that post to the letter and I see how it works with descriptions also .
