Unable to apply upgraded license to allow for Synthetic Monitoring

CMK version: 2.3 (exact patch unknown)
OS version: Unknown

Issue: Cannot utilize the expanded number of Synthetic Monitoring checks that have been paid for

A CheckMK employee sent this:

I suspect this problem is caused because their license information has not been reflected in their Checkmk instance.
Could you please suggest them to trigger license upload. With that they should see the correct information as in the screenshot.

When that was attempted the following was the result:
Error message: “Last verification failed…”

The customer says the CheckMK server does not have any outbound network filtering that would prevent contacting CheckMK’s licensing servers.

I asked them to try the offline process (Managing licenses - collect and send license information) but it’s greyed out as shown in the previous screenshot.

I had them send me a support diagnostic with licensing info, cmc logs, crash reports, and more. Nothing in there gave me a direction on what to try next.

I cannot find a list of URLs, FQDNs, domains, or IP addresses that are required for this process. I am at a bit of a loss. I have not encountered issues with the licensing before despite working with CheckMK for years.

Anyone have any suggestions? The customer is understandably frustrated that they are unable to use the Synthetic Monitoring they are paying for.

Thanks!

I just did a packet capture of my formerly licensed environment (now expired) while doing a license upload. I see DNS queries for license.checkmk.com with valid v4 A record and v6 AAAA record responses.

I am going to have the client check that.
