What version am I running?

Hello Checkmk users!

I just started a new job and I was looking into CheckMK (I used to work with Nagios long ago).
Both CheckMK and the Debian machine haven’t been updated in a while and the person that installed it at the company is long gone.

I have two questions, hope you guys can help me out

  1. When I check the version of CheckMK I don’t see any .cee or .cre (like in the manual) am I running the Demo version then?
  2. I want to update both the Debian box and also CheckMK. Is it better to update the Debian first through apt-get and then the CheckMK or better other way around to prevent conflicts etc.

omd version

OMD - Open Monitoring Distribution Version 1.21.20150813

omd versions

1.21.20141222
1.21.20150114
1.21.20150313
1.21.20150813 (default)

uname -a

Linux HOSTNAME 3.2.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.2.68-1+deb7u2 x86_64 GNU/Linux

cat /etc/issue

Debian GNU/Linux 7 \n \l

Thanks!

Hi Tika,

the Version could be located left-Top:

image

raw or enterprise

first backup like here:

https://checkmk.de/cms_omd_basics.html

Point 9

  • then update of the CMK

then Debian

but if i see the Information from your system

it`s an old OMD Installation

IMHO - the best way is to setup a new Server with a clean installation

Hi BH2005,

Thanks for your quick answer. The version seems quite old indeed.

2020-01-15 08_34_10-Check_MK - Main Overview

I was also thinking of doing a fresh install instead of updating and upgrading.

Let me discuss here with the company. Thank again

Try omd sites to view the version of each monitoring site you have created.
