Adding Aruba WLC to site

I am wanting to add my aruba WLC cluster to my site. I have found the manual page here - Aruba Networks Wireless LAN Controller (WLC): Connected WLAN Accesspoints - which I would like to use but dont actually know the way of getting them into the site.

Whats the best way of doing this?

What do you see after adding the WLC with correct SNMP configuration inside the service discovery?

This is all I get from a correctly configured snmp community string

You have an Aruba instant WLAN access point. For this device you need other checks.
I build such a check here.

Result will be like this on a slave AP.

On the master AP you will see the status of all other APs.
And also all connected clients.

Thank you for the information.

I am trying to get this imported but I am not sure how it is done. Would you be able to show me how to get these status via the plugins on server and client side?

Sorry @andreas-doehler, I see my issue - im running raw version of CheckMk and not commercial versions. I will stop what im doing…

The mkp you can also install on RAW version.
Switch to your site user and do an “mkp add filename.mkp”
and then “mkp enable name version”
The correct strings you get if you add the mkp file.

Sory if im being naive, but I cant run any sort of mkp commands

@andreas-doehler - I have managed to work through some step by step guides and have found that my CheckMk version needs to be 2.3.0. I will update my site and then continue to install the mkp

you have to run those commands as the site user.
After logging in as root, run omd su <yoursitename>

Thank you!
Thats running perfectly on the slave APs…
On the controlers IP those new metrics don’t show up…?

This mkp is only made for Aruba instant WLAN. There you normally have no controller. It exists only a master AP that shows the data from all other APs and his own.

afterall installing the latest mkp and enabling it succesfully, still not dont see the above. what did i do wrong? :frowning:

Is your system really a Aruba instant WLAN AP?
If not it is possible that it will not work.
