@theyken I think this is a simple UX fix. The Global Settings are named somewhat ambiguous, as both the reports and the Checkmk GUI have “tables”. It’s not totally surprising that a user (like @matze218 did) would expect that setting to affect the tables in the GUI
Same is true for the “Default Graph Layout” setting
ah ok sorry. Yeah thought that is for all tables.
If I would have go to the global setting and to the section then I would have seen it is under the section “reporting”.
But yeah there could maybe shown which path/section that is.
Thanks for your help!
The reason behind is that our old Dashboard got a better overview because there was shown more on one page. But maybe that will be improved with you new UI.
This is a very misleading label, thanks for pointing it out @matze218 . I will have closer look, and hopefully, we can fix this within the scope of 2.3!
My idea for an easy fix for this particular problem would be to simply extend the title of the setting to
“Default Graph Layout for Reports”
“Default Table Layout for Reports”
@matze218 's suggestion to somehow show the Global Settings section in the search results would be useful, as it’s more consistent (as it would apply to any search result), but surely significantly more complicated to implement. Especially because it would not only need to apply to Global Settings but to any search in the Setup menu
