Apt Update check mkp - agent plugin doesn't seem to get detected

Hi all,
https://exchange.checkmk.com/p/apt

successfully ran mkp install onto the monitoring hosts for this plugin
copied the agent plugin file to the monitored node under /usr/lib/check_mk_agent/plugins/

however, we’re stuck after that – host discovery doesn’t pick up the new plugin or service.

is the following forum post relevant?

Hallo, wir würden gerne die anstehende Updates über CheckMK visualisieren. Leider wird der Dienst nicht auf dem Host gefunden. In Check:MK haben wir in den Service>>Monitoring Rules folgende Einstellungen aktiviert: |State when normal updates are pending: |WARN| |State when security updates are pending: |CRIT| Muss hierzu noch etwas auf dem Host installiert werden ?

I tried running the contents through translation,but it didn’t seem to provide any clues specific to this plugin.

For apt check no extra mkp is needed. There exists already a script “mk_apt” inside the normal CheckMK agent plugins. You only need to deploy these and that’s it.

1)
check if the plugin is available in the plugin directory
2)
check if perhaps a rule is blocking the use for this host.

Local and remote checking the output of the agent will help you.
