Description of problem

We use Aruba AirWave with several AccessPoints underneath as a Virtual Controller.
There are x number of AccessPoints underneath the VirtualController.

We added the VirtualControllers to CheckMK (2.2.0p14.cee) via SNMP and added a Rule as described in:

However, we do not see any information from the AccessPoints that fall under the VirtualController.

I performed an SNMP Walk from the CheckMK GUI (Monitoring via SNMP - Monitoring of SNMP devices with Checkmk) and downloaded the text file.

The information is there, but it is not visible in CheckMK.
I expected that “aruba_wlc_aps” plugin (aruba_wlc_aps: new inventory plugin for Aruba Networks WLAN Controller which displays name, group name, model, serial number and system location of all access points of this WLC) would be used.

Under SNMP info I only see the AccessPoint name that the VC role has.
Am I missing something or making a mistake?

The check is looking for the sysObjectID 1.3.6.1.4.1.14823.1.1 ( switchProducts) only. Your vWLC reports 1.3.6.1.4.1.14823.1.2.71 ( iapvc). So no match here. The second issue is, the data of your APs are under 1.3.6.1.4.1.14823.2.3.3.1.2.3.1 ( aiWlanEntry) amd the plugin is using data from 1.3.6.1.4.1.14823.2.2.1.5.2.1.4.1 ( wlsxWlanAPEntry). So this looks like, a new plugin is needed tp make this work.

Ok, based on your answer I looked in the appliance in the folder /omd/versions/2.2.0p14.cee/share/check_mk/checkman and indeed see the descriptions of the plugins that start with aruba_. They all use WLSX-SYSTEMEXT-MIB .

Status at the moment.

• you need to query every AP by itself
• you need to create a cluster object with every AP as member
• cluster all the found AP services (master AP sees all other APs and itself, slave APs only see the data from itself)
• result cluster object with all AP state services
• every AP shows the users connected to this AP
• master AP shows the cumulative data of connected users.

If now the master AP changes nothing should be affected in the display, only the numbers for the connected users on the new master are way higher than before.
The new master AP is the only service inside the cluster object with data from one source.
