Brocade_fcport, Port Summary

Hi,

We just found out that the Summary of the port description does not show the correct Speed for the deployed brocade switch ports . After digging thru the brocade_fcport i made a very very small change and now it seems to work.

cee2.0.0p9
Brocade : Brocade_X6-4, Firmware Version: v8.2.3
Standard Summary Message on Port :
Assumed speed: 2 Gbit/s, In: 7.17 kB/s, Out: 440.83 kB/s, Physical: in sync, Operational: online, Administrative: online

Summary Message after change:
Speed: 32 Gbit/s, In: 1.47 kB/s, Out: 110.03 kB/s, Physical: in sync, Operational: online, Administrative: online

Change in brocade_fcport:
from:
if len(if_info) == len(speed_info):
to:
if len(if_info) == len(speed_info)-2:

I am new to check_mk and new to python, it took me a while to catch why it does not take the ifhighspeed . I have not gone futher, just seen this “if” did not match, and those devices have 2 1gbit ethernet mgmt interfaces and therefore 2 entries more in the Highspeedtable . It is somehow not valueing the iftype = 56 in the if as it is done during the filling of if_table ? (this oneliner is very hard to unterstand for me ) … As u see very beginner …

I am totaly NOT sure if the is the solution at all. So anyone with more info on this is very welcome .

Hi,

I also see a “Problem” that the Port Description is not shown like : FC port 6/28 .

This happens when a "User Defined Port Description is used ( like ifAlias ) .

Port Service Name :

“Port 109 Port Description by switch admin typically the device attached”
or
“Port 110 slot4 port46” ( if No user Defined Description set )

This Brocades have 3 slots/modules inserted and a lot of ports .(100+)

For me it looks like the swFCPortName is filled with defaults until overritten by User . The consequence is that in a notification we have no Slot / Port which is needed .

So there is a need for me to add ifName like ifHighSpeed to brocade_fcport, and i am not sure if i could manage this … ( to add it to the Summary ) .

Maybe someone could catch this up in the future, because currently if we send out a Port Down Notification they know which Server is down, but not the Module/Port affected without contacting the brain,switch or docu :slight_smile: .

thx, Dietmar
