For the apc_symmetra you can use the migrated checks from the master branch inside the GitHub repo.

For the juniper_bgp_state you need to migrate it in the way i described. Where is your problem here with the migration?

Thank you for the pointer. We were able to replace our custom hack of juniper_bgp_state with the thl package Checkmk / Juniper Networks / BGP peer · GitLab

And that feels much cleaner. Thank you for the pointer to the apc_symmetra.py code. We will explore that.

You’ve run into a classic problem with the transition period between legacy checks and the agent-based API in Checkmk.

The point is that ~/local/share/check_mk/checks/ is indeed no longer honored in new versions (starting with the branch that further separated legacy and new APIs). Therefore, the “everything is ignored” behavior is expected, not a bug.

But then you run into a conflict:
