Change IPMI Sensor Summary Check Interval

Hi Checkmk community,

I’m using 2.1.0p26 enterprise edition currently. I need to update i know.

Is there any way to change the “IPMI Sensor Summary” check interval?

I tried these already and the Normal rule did not work but, the Retry rule seems to have.

Normal check interval for service matching service “IPMI Sensor Summary” and it did NOT work.

Retry check interval for service matching service “IPMI Sensor Summary” and it DID work.

I see this on the service details now. 180 seconds (3min) is the default we use.

Service normal/retry check interval 180 s / 15 m

The reason i was wanting to change this is another issue.

We found that the IPMI is dying unrecoverably on ASUS servers like RS500A-E11-RS4U using latest firmware requiring power to be removed.

We are wondering if Checkmk + ipmitool (almalinux9 ipmitool version 1.8.18-csv) is encountering a bug with the IPMI firmware so i was wanting to make the check intervals a little less frequent.

I didn’t use IPMI before but assuming that it works like other similar checks you will need to change the interval of “Check_MK” Service which is the active check who retrieves the monitoring data.
