We were seeing a repeated pattern with 15s up and 45s down for some hosts which was probably caused by lost ICMP replies (see 48909).
We changed the smart ping expected packet rate from the default (2.5x check interval9 to 180 seconds.
An increase in expected rate should resolve or at least change the pattern, but the pattern persists.
My guess is that the configuration change we made had no effect.
Suggestions anyone? Fixes?
