Yeah…i sorted it out by applying a check_dummy service to it, which then removed the default ping. Then i created an associated host label in the rule to match hosts with the label applied to them.
I must say though…CheckMK can be hard work at times due to the number of menus, as compared to the simplicity of Nagios.
