[Check_mk (english)] Best Method to Modifiy Inventorized Check Threshold

Greetings,

What is the best approach to modify the threshold of an inventoried

check? I’m using Multisite/WATO, OMDistro. (1.2.6p12) This is my
first time trying this. More specifically, I’m talking about the APC
Symmetra
check, which was an automatically added inventory
check. I simply want to modify the voltage threshold from 225v to
115 for U.S. I’ve seen that there are a few ways to do this, but
I’m wondering the best? Also, can this be done IN WATO or only
through an .mk file.

Thanks!

Hi Matthew,

you’re using WATO so that’s the best way doing this - by far! Easy to configure rules, always the right syntax…

Your specific question regarding APC… WATO → Host & service parameters → Parameters for discovered services → APC Symmetra Checks.

Don’t forget to rediscover affected hosts (“tabula rasa” in WATO discovery) because changed rules often apply only to newly discovered services. And - for sure - apply changes

Thanks, you are right. I did get it to work in WATO, but I must say
it is taking me a long time to see how all the components (host
groups, service groups, rules, grouping, host-tags, etc., etc.) all
fit together! It was/is a little frustrating. I kept going back to
config files for the changes I needed, until today… Thanks
again.
