I would like to monitor some Cisco Meraki equipment, however I am unable to add the devices using the auto discovery option as the equipment is monitored via the Meraki dashboard on a non standard port number. Has anyone found a way to implement monitoring
for these devices?
if the devices only use other port numbers for SNMP then it should be possible to use the “UDP port used for SNMP” setting to point to the right port for this devices.
I took a look at the Meraki documentation and they are using normal standard SNMP without different port settings.
The documentation only says to setup a whitelist for communication from outside the Meraki network.

I have added a rule to poll via port 16100 which is the SNMP port associated with our dashboard however the auto-discovery process in Check MK only discovered two services, one reporting the uptime of the cloud controller and the current status and software
version of the cloud controller. The AP’s are not discovered.

By default, Meraki devices cannot be polled from outside the network. However, after setting up the community string, an MX can be configured to allow polling from a remote IP whitelist, configured under Organization > Configure > Settings > SNMP.
If this don’t work for your setup it is possible that you need a monitoring satellite inside the Meraki network. I’m no Meraki specialist so i don’t know what you need to do there.

I have inherited some meraki monitoring, for aircard status and other things, It is running in a Nagios (without CMK) so is doing some things via passive checks. We query the portal at snmp.meraki.com:16100 and pull back various stats. l I’d like to query the devices independently as is traditional with network gear, but haven’t looked into it too much. I will be implementing it as a plugin for CMK at some point, but in the meantime I can share the script with you if you’d like.
