[Check_mk (english)] cisco switch interface traffic

hi,

I am using latest omd version to monitor my cisco switch. my friend told me that check_mk report

bad traffic port!!! I test port traffic with trial version of mrtg and found out that he is right!!!.

prtg reports 1.5mb/s for my port but at the same time check_mk shows 181.07kB/s, out: 350.81kB/s !!!

Any Idea?

Hi,

the values are - more or less - the same: MRTG/PRTG reports in BITs/sec, check_mk by default in BYTEs/sec. When you take the 181 kByte/s and multiply them by 8 you get the 1.5 mBIT/s.

Bit/Byte can be configured in WATO → Host & service parameters → Parameters for discovered/inventoried services → Netwrok interfaces and switch ports → param “Measurement unit”.

HTH,

Marcel

Isn’t 1.5 mbit something around 180 kbytes? I mean, aren’t you comparing bits to bytes?

Best regards,
