I am having an issue as to my host groups when I add 2 of my devices they stay under the default check_mk host groups. One is a router and the other is a Windows Server 2008 R2 box. Yes the agents are installed on both and they are up and green.
When I go to the WATO - Configuration -> Host Groups -> Rules
The 4th group is Windows Servers (Could not Attach Screenshot) the Pegasus server is part of this group, However the Pegasus server shows up under check_mk group not the Windows Servers group.
Also the Routers Group, it has a Cisco_E900 as a host under the group, it also shows up under the check_mk group (Could not attach Screenshot) and not under the Routers
Any help would be appreciated,

Is there a rule defined anywhere which should put hosts in a hostgroup based on a tag or WATO folder? Otherwise it won’t work.
Unfortunately there are no screenshots

Hi Michael
there only can be 2 causes that your rules don’t work:
either the mentioned router and server don’t have one of the tags defined in the rule or the hostname is written wrong somewhere.
I suggest that you dont make such rules based on host names but define a new taggroup named OS and make new tags like windows, linux and so on.
So you are able to make your rules much simpler since you can take out the host names. This is very useful if your installation grows over 30 hosts or so
