Hi Folks,
According to this:
https://mathias-kettner.de/checkmk_check_apt.html
It is recommended to install this plugin with asynchronous execution and at an interval with at least one hour.
Can someone show me how to do this?
Thanks,
Marc

RTFM:
https://mathias-kettner.de/checkmk_localchecks.html
especially section 6
On a box with such a setup:
locate mk:apt:
/usr/lib/check_mk_agent/local/1800/mk_apt
/var/lib/check_mk_agent/cache/local_1800\mk_apt.cache
Asynchrnous execution every half hour (1800 seconds)

Thanks Wolfgang,
I’ve got this going on a test box. According to the documentation regarding local checks, one of the limitations is that Warning and Critical levels have to be configured and handled on the host itself.
Would this still be the case for a standard plugin like apt_mk?

I’m using mk_apt on my workstation. It’s pretty annoying, since Ubuntu has
so many updates, and I have it checking every 2 hours, but I think it’s
hard coded to Warning for regular updates and Critical if there are any
Security updates available.

Thanks - that’s what I was thinking too, but wanted to know that before I deployed it to production machines. Yeah, and +1 on the number of updates. The number and frequency have been surprising as of late.
