[Check_mk (english)] How to skip parts of pattern (logwatch)

Hi Guys,
everything at the moment is working well using check_mk and logwatch. But I have a question: actually the logwatch config file is:

/var/log/somwhere.log

C Exceptions

The output is something like Exception from server pippo.local.net and is how expected. What I wanna do is clear the part “local…net” to have something like “Exception from server pippo” . Any idea how to do it?

Thank you in advance

Antonio

Hi Antonio,

I do not use that anywhere but remembered I read about it…

Read https://mathias-kettner.de/checkmk_logfiles.html and search for “Rewriting lines”. This has to be done on agent side so you have to do it on every affected agent, it cannot be done at cmk server side.

HTH,

Marcel
