[Check_mk (english)] Livestatus multisite timeout

Hi everyone,

I have 2 check_mk servers. One with multisite configured and another. When the local server can not reach the other (switch/router down), i have a timeout message but maybe after 10-15 min and i can not do anything on the webui. It’s freezing.
So my question is : where can i erase the timeout, in order to prevent the webui bugging ?

Version : 1.2.2p1

Best regards.

Hi Sebastien,

you can define a status host on your livestatus connection. This status host is located on your local site and test the availability of your remote site with ping or something else.

If this status host is down (switch/router down) then livestatus will not try to reach the other server and the local GUI stays usable.

Best regards

Andreas

Hi Andreas,

And if it’s the remote server which is down ? My local webui will still receive a timeout from the remote server and will bug. What
i would like to do is to declare the remote server as a status host. But as you said, it has to be a host on the local server.

Best regards.

A normal setup with distributed hosts would look like the following

Central server: host1 (central server itself) , host2_status (status host for the remote site - with IP from remote host checked on central server)

Remote server host2 (real remote host) and any other hosts checked from this site

Livestatus on central server is configured with host2_status as status host for remote site.

If remote site is not reachable the host2_status will go down and the local livestatus knows that the remote site is not available anymore. The web gui should not hang then.

For every remote site you create a status host on your central site and configure the livestatus with this status host.

Best regards

Andreas
