[Check_mk (english)] manual check - file count

Hi all, my check is for greater than 1 file in the “/opt/files/” directory. There are 2 files in that directory but the check is reporting status ok.

Can anyone suggest how I might be able to progress this please?

Regards,

WILL

Hi, I’ve managed to make some small progress, the agent is definitely looking in the correct folder as the 2 files are showing in the list of services for the host, which is not what I want. Also the check that
I do want (file count > 1) appears to be checking age oldest, age newest, size and count, yet I have only selected the count check box within the rule settings. This is all very confusing, if anyone out there can shed some light on this I’d be very grateful.

Regards,

WILL

Hi folks, can anyone give me some information on how to debug this file count check please? I’m using WATO and have taken all required steps, my monitor should be reporting critical error but its reporting status ok.

My check is for > 1 file in the “/opt/files/” directory and there are 2 files in that directory. So, I’m thinking my check isn’t looking in the right place.

How can I figure out where the agent is actually looking? The link below is exactly the same problem as I’m having but unfortunately is not resolved.

Hi William,

you need to define a “File Grouping Pattern” for your found files inside the directory. Then you can make a rule for “Size, age and count of file groups” inside this rule you give the name of your “Grouping Pattern” and then there should be a single check for this filegroup and no single file checks anymore.

Best regards

Andreas
