Using 1.2.8p5, I’m running into some performance issues that I think is causing some of my webinject tests to fail (timeout). Periodically, I’ll see a bunch of these processes start (one for each client?) pegging all cores
of the CPU to 100% What is this doing?
python /omd/sites/SJC/share/check_mk/modules/check_mk.py --defaults /omd/sites/SJC/etc/check_mk/defaults
–inv-fail-status=1 --hw-changes=0 --sw-changes=0 --cache --inventory-as-check

Hi Thomas,
This is the hardware / software inventory check and should only run every four hours. If you have a check interval of one minute for this check, you need to create a rule for a longer interval. This can be one of the performance issues. This happened only for upgrade installations on my systems. On new installed site the check interval was correct.
If you don’t need the hardware/software inventory you can also disable this feature for some or all host with a rule.
Best regards
Andreas

I did have that enabled for a bit, but I thought I removed it. Just checked and I do see it on one of the hosts so I’ve disabled the check since it appears that is for specific
hardware info and that I should still get basic info (disk space, etc). Hopefully that will resolve it, we’ll know in a few hours.
