[Check_mk (english)] Purestoreage

Hey all

Anyone able to get a working check implemented for a purestoreage device

Found this but not sure it’s the best way or really where to place the script

https://github.com/purestorage/nagios/blob/master/README.pod

Hi Nadeem,

if you want to use the classic Nagios check, then you should place the check inside “~/local/lib/nagios/plugins” inside your monitoring site.

After this is done you can define a rule for “Active Checks” → “Classical active and passive Monitoring checks”. To access the plugin use the $USER2$ macro for the correct path to the plugin.

A better solution would be to build a special agent using the purestorage API. But this is a bigger task.

Best regards

Andreas

Hello all,

We are interested in the Purestorage monitoring as well, and the API approach would be preferred.

Andreas, would you be able to give a rough estimate of the work hours required for this?

Nadeem, would you (or anyone else) be interested in splitting the costs of the devopment in order to get this plugin developed?

Kind regards,

Simon

Hi Nadeem,

for such API timeout problems i recommend to test the API with a tool like “Postman”.

Do you changed the api tokens inside the perl script?

All the test the script is doing can be made with some Restful API tools.

First check if your API connection is working and then you can test the check script.

Best regards

Andreas

Andreas…would you be able to give a “rough” estimate for the API work involved (to create a new special agent based around the Purestorage API….like we did before for the Hivemanager API)…that way we can see if we can
get our end-client to finance this from their side?

For the Hivemanager agent, it was around 16 credits…maybe 20 in the end with updates…can we estimate something similar for Purestorage?

Kind regards,

Simon

Hi Simon,

I don#t know why you think so but Andreas does not work for MK - we also have an Andreas but another one

If you want an estimation, open a ticket, describe your needs as detailed as possible (including information about the API, which data needed, whatever) and I#m sure you will get the estimation within the next weeks…

Simon

Hi Nadeem,

if you want to use the classic Nagios check, then you should place the check inside “~/local/lib/nagios/plugins” inside your monitoring site.

After this is done you can define a rule for “Active Checks” → “Classical active and passive Monitoring checks”. To access the plugin use the $USER2$ macro for the correct path
to the plugin.

A better solution would be to build a special agent using the purestorage API. But this is a bigger task.

Best regards

Andreas

Hey all

Anyone able to get a working check implemented for a purestoreage device

Found this but not sure it’s the best way or really where to place the script
