[Check_mk (english)] Regarding OMD in HA setup

Hi List,

I was going through http://blog.simon-meggle.de/tutorials/nagiosomd-cluster-mit-pacemakerdrbd-teil1/

Couldn’t understand it, partly because it is in German (used google translate), partly because I am not very experienced in HA setups.

Our required setup is as follows

node1 : running omd-1.10 , located in /apps

node2 : sharing /apps folder via SAN setup

RHEL6.5. Used stack : pacemaker

Now if the node1 goes down, the node2 would mount the /apps and serve the omd sites, there is only one site in /apps (node1) , that would be master site, for managing the configuration .

How to make sure, when the node1 goes down and node2 comes up, the omd site master would still be processing the requests ?

What all concepts do i need to be knowing before starting the deployment ?

What all services do I need to make sure comes up, when node1 goes down ?

If you want to have no active - active setup then you have only to ensure that on your second node the SAN directory is available
and your OMD site is started without any error.

Beside the Cluster IP must also be moved to the new host.

OMD keeps all data inside it’s folder structure.

The setup from Simon Meggle from your mentioned tutorial is a little bit different then what you want to build.
