I get the following error when adding a snmp based device.
I have the correct snmp version and the correct community and when doing a
snmp walk from my server to the device it works.
Any ideas
Inventory failed for this host: Error running sudo -u
root /usr/bin/check_mk --automation try-inventory -- ATHABASCATERMINALFW
(exit code 2):
Cannot get system description via SNMP. SNMP agent is not responding.
Probably wrong community or wrong SNMP version

Do
sudo -u root /usr/bin/check_mk --debug --automation try-inventory -- ATHABASCATERMINALFW
(meaning, use that command line and add the --debug switch) from the command line, and you'll see what actually happens and why it fails.
