I’m trying to add a HP MSA 2040 storage to Check_mk monitored hosts. After a bit of reading I found that a special agent for HP MSA exists! And it should be an official part of Check_MK.
However I can’t find the special agent in the installed 1.2.6p15.cre (Red Hat 7 RPM form the MK site). When checking the git I saw that there should be 17 special agents in the 1.2.6p15.cre but I found only 12 on my box. Missing are: agent_acme_sbc,
agent_appdynamics, agent_hp_msa, agent_ruckus_spot and agent_siemens_plc.
Can anyone help me explain the difference and tell me what would be the easiest way to get the missing agent and checks.
You can try using the missing special agent in your site by copying it to folder ~/local/share/check_mk/agents/special/. But you will not get a configuration option for the “foreign” agent in WATO. If that’s okay for you try copying the appropriate check files to ~/local/share/check_mk/checks/ and test them.
…but don’t expect any support for this as mixing installations with parts of new features will - sooner or later - cause issues.
