I integrated sms notification to our Check_MK few weeks ago. I added 2 pager number for our contacts and it worked well.Then I decided to remove one of the pager number. I removed the number from WATO and thought that I would not get anymore sms, but sms keeps coming for removed pager number.
I
thought of manually search for the the pager number under /omd/ directory and the following list came up
/omd/sites/xyxyxy/var/icinga/objects.precache:
/omd/sites/xyxyxy/var/icinga/objects.cache:
/omd/sites/xyxyxy/etc/nagios/conf.d/check_mk_objects.cfg
/omd/sites/xyxyxy/var/check_mk/wato/auth/auth.php
/omd/sites/xyxyxy/etc/icinga/conf.d/check_mk_objects.cfg
I deleted the pager number from all the above files manually. Then I generated a notification and this time I did not receive any sms. In order to double check I reloaded check_mk using (check_mk -O) command. Ater the reload I still get sms for every notification generated.
So, any idea what I am doing wrong here? How can I permanently remove the pager number?

Hello,
it looks like that the sms number is not removed completely from inside WATO. Interesting is wich backend do you use - Nagios or Icinga?
For further search take a look at the folder.
/omd/sites/xyxyxy/etc/check_mk/conf.d/wato
Somewhere inside this folder you should find the sms entry.

I am using Nagios. I have searched the entire directory /omd/sites/xyxyxy/etc/check_mk/conf.d/ wato and there is no sign of the pager
number.
Any idea what could be wrong?

How did you search? Best would be ‘grep -ri <pager_number> /omd/sites/xyxyxy/etc/’.
If the number has been removed in WATO this should be enough for the directory /omd/sites/xyxyxy/etc/check_mk/conf.d/wato but maybe it’s still configured in a manually maintained file.
Also, try restarting (‘cmk -R’) instead of reloading, maybe this helps.
