Looks like it was a rogue rule, I moved the VCSA’s to another folder and created a new host tag/rule for vcenter 6.5 and now it is
now working.

Further to this, yes I have another vcenter (6.0) that adds datastore checks no problem.
Comparing the agent output, the format is identical so it doesn’t look like anything changed with 6.5

Yes the ‘Check state of VMware ESX via vSphere’ is configured to query vCenter, with correct user details and retrieve info on Datastores
is checked
Diagnostic output of the host is as expected and I can see datastore info
Eg
<<<esx_vsphere_datastores:sep(9)>>>
[SSD_dataStore]
accessible true
capacity 2880312442880
freeSpace 191130238976
The problem seems to be esx_vsphere_datastores plugin is not parsing the output and adding service check

Has this ever worked for you?
Can you confirm you have the ‘Datastores’ check box checked in the Special Agent config? (it is under

Hi Guys
Thanks for the reply, the check_mk running on this customer is 1.2.8p8
We had problems compiling newer versions from source so we are planning to move to the packaged version in the future.
Jon can you clarify ‘Did you make sure to add your hostname or IP for your vCenter in the ESX Datastores plugin?’
Do you mean a ‘ESX Datastores (used space and growth)’ rule? Yes I have a global rule in place that should apply to all vCenters/VCSAs
Cheers
Garth

I can also vouch it’s working fine for me as well on 1.4.0p34 and many versions prior to that.
Did you make sure to add your hostname or IP for your vCenter in the ESX Datastores plugin?

Zitat von “Garth Horsburgh [DATACOM]” GarthH@datacom.co.nz:
Hello
Using the vSphere plugin with some vCenter 6.5 appliances, no
Datastore checks are being added
Looking at the diagnostic output, the vCenters are providing DS
info. The check_mk version is very old, so perhaps the plugin can’t
understand vCenter 6.5 ?
Hallo,
which Version of check-mk are you using?
Is it possible for you to install a testsite with the latest 1.4 Version?
A standard check using the ESX datasource works fine here.
