[Check_mk (english)] WG: Check_mk Service in non-native SNMP device

Hi Josè,

I think you have to define another “Host check command” for example to ping or sth. So that will force your Check_MK Service
not to timeout.

Aswell you can try running your script via “Classical active and passive Monitoring checks”. Not the Best Practise way,
but helps me out a lot J

Kind regards,

Constantin

Betreff: [Check_mk (english)] Check_mk Service in non-native SNMP device

Hi Everybody,

I’m trying to monitor a device wich is not a SNMP native device. This device is just a Gateway to translate ModBus variables to SNMP OIDs, but it hasn’t generic OIDs as sysDesc or
sysObjectID.

I’ve written a script to check specific OIDs, but when I try to check it via manual checks, a ”Check_mk Service” is created as well with no answer (tiem out) and my script is always “Pending”

I’ve created a rule in the host parameters: “Hosts without system description OID” , but check mk service is always time out and my script is
“Pending”.

Do you know how can I avoid the check_mk service and directly execute my script, creating a new service?

Thanks in advance,

Jose
