CheckMk Activation Error

Hi All,

In CheckMK Gui, I am trying to disable a Router for monitoring. Steps taken in CheckMK Portal :

  1. In the Views → Hosts → All Hosts, I clicked and selected a host that needs to be disabled

  2. After selecting the Host, I went to WATO → Custom Attributes → Criticality tick box–> selected
“Do not monitor this host” from drop down menu.

  3. Performed “Activate the Pending changes” and also ticked “Activate changes of other users”, it
does not work. Received error as below in the Activation Status:
State: Failed. Started at: 14:50:24. Finished at: 14:50:29.
Failed: Error running automation call restart (exit code 1), error:
not all arguments converted during string formatting

I have attached a screenshot of the error shown. May I get some advice if I have missed any steps above, or if there’s a different method of disabling a router from

monitoring?

Thank You very much.

Hi @HSC,

can you please check your cmc log? /omd/sites/SITENAME/var/log/cmc.log
Maybe you’ll find something in the web.log too.

But the most important thing here is. You are using a very old version of Checkmk.
1.6.0p10 (Mar 14, 2020) is End of Life and your problem might already be fixed in later versions.
So please keep your Checkmk on a supported level to not run into issues like you have now.

I know it’s easy to say to “just” update the software but problems and bugs are getting solved with every patch release and 1.6.0p10 is very far behind the last patch on the 1.6 release → 1.6.0p30. :upside_down_face:

Thanks in advance.
Norm

Thank you Norm, appreciate your help on this. Yes, I do need to update CheckMK at some point but for sure now after I fix this problem.

I don’t have cmc.log file but did check web.log. Seems like issue related to invalid credentials and checkMk automation restart goes into error. Is there a way to check which username used to configure routers and Parent routers in CheckMK?

Attach is the screenhsot of the error from web.log

, any recommendation to investigate this further would be great.

Hi All, was wondering if anyone know how to fix this issue? Anyone from CheckMK support perhaps?
