On our 2.3.0p23cme (managed edition), there’s no “Checkmk agent / API integrations” in “Monitoring agents” in the host configurations. I can set “Agent type” in “Custom attributes” (with possible values "No “agent”, “Use all enabled datasource programs” et al).
And I’m sure that it has been that way since ages. That CME site has a very long history, btw, going back to Check_MK 1.6 at least.
In another site running 2.3.0p24.cre (raw edition), I can see “Checkmk agent / API integrations” under “Monitoring agents”.
you should have a look into “Setup > Tags”. This section should look like this screenshot:
@kdeutsch, thanks, that helped. I never noticed there was an deprecration note there (appearently since 1.6???). Man, that Checkmk site is getting old…
Fix it was not so easy, though. In the end I removed the custom tags we had added to “agent” from the hosts, from the rules and from “agent” and then I was able to delete the “agent” tag and I finally got replaced with the builtin “agent” tag.
