Checkmk Enterprise Version advantages?

Hello,
We are using Checkmk v1.6 Raw edition. We would like to upgrade to the latest version of Enterpise plan. That’s why we would like to know the followings. Thanks.

  1. Is it really possible to configure remote sites in a distributed monitoring environment directly from central monitoring server
  2. Is it really possible to create central rules that are then applied to multiple or all hosts also on remote sites
  3. Is it ensured that changed configurations are applied later if the connection to the remote site is currently not established

All your points are also possible with the raw edition.

Hi Elvin,

In general, the Checkmk Enterprise edition has many extra bells and whistles
you won’t want to miss, once you start using them: It’s always an advantage
compared to the RAW edition in any aspect. You will not be disappointed

Especially for “distributed monitoring” you get the “livestatus proxy” with the
the Enterprise edition, which is related to your third point above.

Please see a comparison of available editions, here: Pricing / Editions

Additionally please consult the documentation about distributed monitoring,
where you can see the different possibilities you have for its setup depending
on the edition you use:

Thomas

As @r.sander mentioned - these three things are possible with all Checkmk Editions.

I want to highlight one big difference between Raw and Enterprise that hasn’t been mentioned yet:

Automation, in particular around agent management: The #1 mentioned feature that customers (of any size) mention as a game changer after switching from Raw is the Agent Bakery and automatic agent updates. If you monitor more than a handful of hosts via agents, this will save you a ton of time and headache

There are a number of other differences that might be relevant for you, but that’s a big one.
