To get the date of the search for updates and the date of the actual update done you can do something like this:
On the server/client you can’t list updates without searching for them (Hen/Egg Problem).
But if you have a WSUS Server in your environment you can do yourself a big favor and use powershell scripts to verify the update status against several clients and then piggybacking this information to your hosts.
