Configure SMS Notifikation with Teltonika TBR140

Hello everyone,

We have purchased the Teltonika TBR140 for SMS notification. The gateway can also send SMS, but I cannot send SMS from the virtual CheckMK Enterprise Appliance.
Can someone tell me what I have to configure in CheckMK or at TBR140 gateway to be able to send SMS?

I am not familiar with this device but the simplest option seems to be email (SMTP) to SMS like described here:

In this case you con configure Checkmk to send an email to the device and from there the SMS is triggered. There might be better ways to integrate though.
By the way, you might also use external checks (website, heartbeat) to monitor and alert in case there is an issue with the internet connection:

Unfortunately, email is not possible with us. In this environment we have no email functions and no internet.
It should be possible to have the CheckMK appliance send SMS directly via the TRB140. Is anyone here familiar with this device?

OK, I see. The TRB140 docs mention email to SMS via SMTP. So, I guess they serve as an SMTP server. If you configure this internal SMTP server in your Checkmk email channel, you might still be able to use email to SMS without the need of an internet connection.

Good morning Ron and thank you for your support. I understand with the Email To SMS Forwarding feature that I need a mail server where the TRB140 sends emails with specific subjects to the phone number in the subject. We dont have and do not want to use an extra server to send SMS.
I hope I understand the instructions correctly.

Ah, sorry, you are right. I thought the device works as SMTP server but it seems it only supports POP3 for email to SMS.
I just checked the options and it seems the modem is natively supported in Checkmk. Sorry, I just saw this now.

sorry for my delay.
I have already carried out the nofication rule and set the SMS settings in the main menu of the appliance. Maybe I’m using the wrong TCP port or I need to configure something on the SMS gateway, but I can’t find a suitable point. The Manual is no help to me so far.
