Critical-plugin timeout while executing system call

Hi All,

I am using checkmk enterprise edition , 2 days ago I suddently getting the Critical-plugin timeout while executing system call for the hostname, model, and serial number service we monitor for some of the devices (around 10 devices) we monitor at the same time . So it should not be the issue of the devices but should be checkMk’s issue. Can anyone give some advice what cause this and how to fix it ? Thanks a lot !

First test for such a problem is a
cmk --debug -vvvn HOSTNAME
as site user on the command line.
Here you should see if all the data is correctly fetched and processed.

Thanks Andreas. I found out that those services (hostanme /model/serial number) supposed to be fetched by the SNMP, but the snmp are not enabled on this hosts. So i wonder if those services have ever worked or not or they just suddently came up by themselves ?? Any way we can find out the creation time of those services ?

This can only happen if these services are defines as “enforced services”.
If you have some rules under enforced services that will match for the affected hosts then i would look there first.

That should be the time shown in your screenshot → 2025-07-05 06:07:56
At this time the status was the first time critical and i think that at this time also the services where added.
