I was wondering if it’s possible to add the HostAlias of my host after the host title,
because sometimes it would help me understand the purpose of the host (I usually put more information in the host alias).

There is no easy way to add the hostalias to theheader of a view. Sorry for that.
It is possible very easy - clone the view and add the following grouping.
The result looks like this then.

One more question:
Is it possible to clone the sidebar widget in order to modify the view it uses?
I am currently using the Overview snapin, which references the svcproblems view for unhandled service problems. I would like to use my newly cloned view instead, since it includes the host alias column.

If you don’t change the name of your clone then it already uses your cloned view.
But you can also design your own sidebar element –> “Customize” –> “Custom sidebar elements”
Here you are free to link other views.
