Delayed Notifications

I have some general notification rules setup which are working fine. They alert users when services go critical.

I had a request from some of the managers to only receive notifications if a service has been CRIT for over an hour. We have a lot of noise in the system at the moment so CRIT can come and go. Is there any way in notifications to set this up?

There are rules for that called “delay host notifications” & “delay service notifications”.

yes the delay service notification looks like it would do the job. The problem is that the rule would be applied to all user meaning that i fix it for one type of user and discommode the others. I have been working with the “Throttle periodic notifications” which is almost getting there.

I handle these things via different contact groups, service groups, host groups, and can thus tweak several settings or configure different notification behaviors… Unfortunately, it takes a little more effort, but it’s worth it.

Limit notifications by count to

Throttling of ‘Periodic notifications’

Service Level definition

and so on

I’m beginning to realise that, but as usual our users want a quick fix.. I think i have enough for the short term but longer term i need to restructure a few bits. Probably use service groups or labels
