I setup CheckMK and all my hosts are working well except for two that are on Oracle Cloud, these both are constantly losing connection. Anyone know anything unique that might be causing this with oracle cloud?
I’m using port 6556 open exclusively to monitoring server, like I am doing with 10 other nodes, the only nodes that flap and have intermitten issues are the oracle cloud ones. The rest are all stable. I am wondering if it is oracle ips or something causes glitches. I am monitoring standard ubuntu services, nothing custom.
If possible, setup and use the site-to-site VPN for the CheckMK to target connection. It will require a bit more effort to configure but would be well worth it for production monitoring.
Whilst in theory it should not be required - there could be any number of things between your network and the OCI hosts causing issues.
We have monitored targets in OCI with on-prem CheckMK host over the site-to-site VPN and have had zero connection problems.
I do not want an open VPN from a rented dedicated server to my LAN.
It works most of the time, but occassionally this will happen, of all the hosts it only happens with the two OCI ones. I’ve heard their network isn’t very good and it may just be that. I didn’t know if they were filtering it since it is a regular connection.
