if i have to disable email alert notification for scheduled downtime .we need to deselect the check box of Start or end of a scheduled downtime ? as shown in screen shot ?

you can do it this way, or remove the option in the specific notification rules.

when you create (or modify) a notification rule, you can select (or unselect) the same option, both for hosts and services:
