Distributed Monitoring for Remote Site which is not Reachable from Master, but in Reverse

Hello all,

Szenario (by design):

  • cmk master site cannot connect to cmk remote site
  • cmk remote site can connect to cmk master site

Does anyone know if it is possible to send data only from a remote site to a CheckMK master site? In my setup the master site can’t reach the remote site, but the remote site can reach the master site.

Would like to have the data from the remote site available like in normal distributed monitoring.

Kind regards

Duck

You might would like to consider LiveStatus and/or CMCDump for such a scenario.

We run VPN tunnels (Wireguard, but OpenVPN would work just as well) from our CheckMK sites (your remotes) to our central (your master) & use the tunnel IPs for communication.

Thank you, I will take a look at this!

If you want “normal” distributed monitoring, then @mbunkus has the answer.
If you want a truly air-gapped environment, then @dabrain has the answer.
