Double notifications

CMK version: 2.1.0p11
OS version: openSUSE Leap 15.3

Hi guys,

I have a weird issue with my CheckMK instance. I use it mainly to monitor my homelab.
For every Event, I recieve 2 notifications (either via mail or via Pushover, currently using pushover).
I have 1 (global) notification rule stating the following:

Anyone has any idea why I am getting als notifications doubled?

Thanks a lot in advance and a happy new year to all of you =)

Best regards,
Exzellius

Hi,
have you setup a fallback email address?

Karl

Hi Karl,

no I didn’t set up a fallback email address.
Also I am using push notification, so a fallback email address would just send me an email and not generate a second push notification, correct?

Regards,
Exzellius

Hallo,
please check your active rules.
If possibe have a look into the mailserver logfiles to check if mail are send once ore twice by cmk.
Rald

Hi Exzellius,

have a look at ~/var/log/notify.log to identify unwanted notifications.

Best regards
Dennis

Hi.
You use “all users” in contact selection. If you habe more than one user in your contact group advided to a host, you will get x times notifications. The solution is, to use an explicit user for pushover notifications.

See answer below, using Telegram at the moment, not mail.

Thanks for that lead, here is a snippet of that log:

My question would be I guess: Why does it create two spool files?

I have not had time to check that out, but I will.

I only have the default cmkadmin and automation users. I will check if the automation user is part of the contact group.

Hi guys,

problem solved.
Disabled the notifications for the automation user and now I only recieve one notification per event.
Thank you so much for pushing me in the right direction.
