Duplicate Hosts

I am using the current checkmk version and have duplicated the hosts created by dynamic host management.

Once the manually created ones, where everything is capitalized, and once the one created by “Dynamic host management” from Azure where everything is capitalized and lowercase. the ones from dynamic host management have no ip but then again a veeam service that the manually created one does not have.

I have already created the rule “Hostname translation for piggyback hosts” but somehow it does nothing

Can I somehow add the ones from dynamic host management to our manually created hosts?

I may have misunderstood your question but why do you want to dublicate Hosts?

The Dynamic Host Management should automatically Add and Remove Hosts based on the Piggyback Data that it receives from your Azure Host. If you delete a VM/Ressource Group it will automatically be removed from Monitoring as well.

If you would like to add the Veeam Service to a Host you could use the Service Discovery and Service Monitoring Ruleset or check if you find a suitable Enforced Service.

I don’t like double hosts. The hosts come from dymaic host management, and some hosts are created manually in checkmk.

Both have the same name, and I would like to merge them somehow

I don’t think you are able to merge Hosts. You can use cluster objects to “merge” services onto the cluster host, but in your case I would try to settle with the dynamic Hosts and delete the manually created ones. If you have deployed Agents to the Hosts you dont need to assign an IP address manually. Keep in mind that the Agent registration must be done with the exact hostname that is set in checkmk.

I think you have to apply the hostname translation to the piggyback source and not the the folder containing the piggyback hosts.

So I guess your condition is just wrong, you do not want this on the Folder:Azure but for the Explicit hosts:azure-source (the host that has the azure special agent configured).

Or am I wrong?

That doesn’t help either
